Taanishi - Dr. Stryker Calvez is a Metis/Michif researcher and educator from the Red River territory around Winnipeg. For the last 15 years he has been working with provincial, post-secondary, and community organizations to help implement and improve culturally appropriate educational, social, and health programming for and with Indigenous Peoples and newcomers to Canada. He champions community perspective, egalitarian principles, diversity, and inclusivity for everyone. In recent years he has refocused his attention to building of reconciliation as the Manager of Indigenous Educational Initiatives with the Gwenna Moss Centre for Teaching and Learning. As a leader for reconciliation, he works collaboratively with Indigenous and non-Indigenous people to promotes personal and professional intercultural development as a foundation for this work and the well-being of all communities. When he has the time, he spends it with his Elders and knowledge keepers in an effort to stay grounded in place.
