Dr. Sylvain Roy

Dr. Sylvain Roy is a neuropsychologist at Inner-City Family Health Team in Toronto, director of strategic initiatives at Strata Health and a former president of the Ontario Psychological Association (OPA). He completed his Ph.D. in clinical neuropsychology at the Université de Montréal and also holds degrees from York and McGill University. Dr. Roy works primarily with persons with disabling mental health conditions, such as those with dementia, brain injury and developmental disabilities. He has co-led Ontario government-funded projects looking at elucidating the prevalence of brain injury, dementia and developmental disabilities among shelter users and highlighting challenges associated with connecting homeless people to appropriate supports, housing and health services. Dr. Roy was the recipient of the OPA’s Award of Merit in 2015, and the 2019 Canadian Psychological Association Award for Distinguished Contributions to Public or Community Service. Dr. Roy sat on a number of Ontario Government Panels including the structured Psychotherapy Advisory Panel, The Opioid Emergency Task Force and the ODSP Disability Adjudication Working Group.
